The 26 inch, HDTV and PC compatible LCD television a member of Sharp’s stylish AQUOS line offers a widescreen 16:9 part percentage to go with your beloved movies, and high definition video resolution up to 720p progressive scan when connected to a DTV set top box/receiver not included. The 1,366 x 768 resolution LC 26GA4U will include two removable, high aperture aluminum speakers powered by ten watts per channel. At less than four inches deep, the set is perfect for either table or wall positioning. A useful PC Card slot allows you to view still pictures and video you have recorded on a PC Card, and Sharp’s proprietary fast Shoot video circuit assures a lightning quick answer time of less than 16 ms for smooth as silk video and gaming graphics. LCD screens offer some benefits over CRT monitors and televisions, as well as general easy use, freedom from eye strain no screen flickering or radiation emissions, calm operation no high pitch “flyback” sound, an issue with CRT TVs, correct image geometry no curvature distortion or vulnerability to magnetic interference from, speakers, long screen life no risk of image burn in, space savings, and light weight/easy positioning. They also tend to be cheaper and, to many eyes, somewhat more natural looking than their plasma flat panel counterparts, which typically “spec” higher higher light, higher contrast ratio. The LC 26GA4U’s Advanced Super View/black TFT thin film transistor screen offers very large 170 by 170 degree looking at angles and an surprising contrast percentage of 800:1 for super black blacks. Its high light 450 cd/m2 assures large dynamic range for vivid colors, great depth, and realism. You may be able to place it anywhere near windows, doors, or another light sources and its picture will remain vivid. And, with its 60,000 hour lamp life, the backlight life is long enough to get you looking at pleasure for many years. A fitted 181 channel, drift free PLL synthesized tuner allows you to plug your TV antenna or cable box right into the LC 26GA4U and start watching. Connections comprise of two high definition component video inputs, one DVI I Digital Visual Interface Integrated input, one HDMI High meaning Multimedia Interface input, three composite video inputs, and one S video input. An audio/video output composite and S video with stereo analog audio helps hookup with a surround receiver, DVR, VCR, or another destination. DVI I is a direct digital DVI terminal able of transmitting both analog and digital video data. HDMI High Definition Multimedia Interface is a lossless, uncompressed, all digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source such as a set top box, DVD player, or AV receiver with your TV or monitor. HDMI supports standard definition SD, improved meaning ED, or high definition HD video, plus multi channel digital audio all using a single cable. This TV is excellent on style, small footprint, and small comparative weight. This TV is best if your mainly watch DVD’s or HDTV, and it’s mainly a bedroom or second room TV, not a main TV. The picture quality and size aren’t the best for regular cable TV, and the price certainly isn’t. It’s uncomfortable to connect all the needed wires as they’re all on one side or below the TV, , then you’re supposed to thread them all through a removable panel with a two inch hole. As well, this variant doesn’t include a fitted HDTV tuner. The computer monitor feature is good for hooking up to a laptop, but it uses up the only HDMI cable port.

Bought this TV in December 2004 have had a 13″ Aquos for a year and love it. About mid January I started noticing ‘flickering’ of the picture. On occasion it does it and can get really black too and on occasion it does not. I replaced the cables with Monster brand and bought a new DVD recorder so I KNOW it must be the TV. I am unwilling to take it to a service center now since on occasion it works good. Frustrating! I called Sharp and they had no idea.Told me just to take it to a service center. Too costly a set for this kind of problem.

We bought the Sharp Aquos LC 26DA5U 26″ LCD TV some weeks ago. Great picture quality, superb sound, stylish design. After many of research and many trips to stores, we narrowed our search down to Sony picture, Samsung price and Sharp middle ground. Sharp certainly gives you the best of both worlds quality picture at a great price. One area for improvement remote control design reminds me of a laundry bat : .
