Cuisinart Chefs Classic Stainless-Steel 14-Piece Cookware Set specifications:

Cuisinart Chef’s Classic Stainless-Steel 14-Piece Cookware Set Description:
Review

Cooks shopping for midweight stainless steel cookware at a mid range price may well have found their match with this cookware set from Cuisinart. Equipped to manage common cooking tasks, the 14 piece set will include a 1 1/2 and 3 quart covered saucepan, an 8 and 10 inch covered skillet, a 4 quart covered saute with helper, and a 9 quart covered stockpot, also as a 7 3/4 inch covered steamer put and 9 1/2 inch covered pasta steamer put. As part of Cuisinart’s Chef’s Classic line of cookware, all pieces are made of 18/10 stainless steel that was polished to a smart mirror finish and that will not react to acidic foods. An inner core of aluminum assures that foods heat quickly and evenly without hot spots that can burn foods. The riveted stainless steel handles on the cookware stay cool on the stovetop and the agreeing 18/10 mirror polished stainless steel lids seal in moisture and nutrients for healthier, more flavorful results. Also, the cookware pieces supply tapered rims for drip free pouring and all pieces are dishwasher safe. All cookware in Cuisinart’s Chef’s Classic line is oven safe up to 450 degrees F and covered by a restricted lifetime warranty. Cristina Vaamonde

4.0 out of five stars
A amount of Reality,
December 12, 2006

I want to add a amount of realism to the many positive reviews here. We have had this cookware set for about five months. It comes packaged nicely, looks well made and looks good. And there is the rub. Unlike many of stainless cookware, they are shiny. If you like that, you will be pleased, but you may want to bear in mind that the finish is fragile. It is easy to scratch and easy to discolor. We use the steamer every day and on one occasion I accidentally boiled it dry. I took the pot off the heat quickly, but the result was a faint gold tint on the outside that can not be removed. I do not really mind the color change, but it worries me.

I’ve used the frying pan a couple of times to make eggs and here again the shine is not essentially a good thing. Butter really beads up on the surface as it melts and you must use an terrible lot if you want it to cover the bottom of the pan.

The information warn you many times not to use steel wool for cleaning. So far, we have been okay with a plastic scrubber pad, and, particularly after a soaking, things clean up easily. But the fact that I have been warned not to use the most evident cleaning technique is worrisome.

Pot handles do indeed stay cool. The lids, but, can get hot. As well, the edges of the lids face up and out. This is common now, but my older pans had lids that that were turned into the pan. The outward facing design guarantees that condensation will form on the bottom of the lids, and will drip pretty badly when you 1st remove them from a boiling pot. One good feature of the cover handles is that you may hang them on a pot rack.

Finally, the steamer has some number of extra ridges around the bottom and vegetables inevitably stick to those regions. Again, a soaking is needed to get them clean.

All in all, a useful, tough set, well made, and a good value but with the caveat that the shine may not be what you want.

Dissapointed by quality Not like my other Cuisinart,
December 21, 2007

By&nbsp,JeanE See all my reviews

I bought this set a year ago. I already had the twelve inch skillet, the five qt. Saute pan and a two qt. Saucepan, which I LOVE and use on a regular base. I projected this set to be the same quality as these other Chef’s Classic pans that I had bought individually, but the pans in this set just do not measure up.

The 1st thing I noticed is that these pans are lighter weight. The three qt. Saucepan from this set is much lighter than the two qt. Saucepan I already had. This could be okay, except that food tends to stick more easily to the three qt. I think the botton of the pans in this set must be thinner than my other Chef’s Classic. As well, these pan do spot more I use Barkeepers Friend for all my Cuisinart, but I find the pans in this set discolor every time I use them, which is annoying.

My biggest beef is with the pasta put. I chose this specific set because it included the pasta put, but the pan isn’t just useless it’s a menace. The holes are way to small, and the water drains out gradually. The 1st time I used it, boiling water flooded over the top and splashed over the stove and onto the floor when I lifted the put out of the pot. I have tried using less water, lifting the pasta put gradually, etc. And it still splashes whenever I use it. Today I bought a Faberware eight qt. Pasta insert it has much bigger holes and when I tried it tonight I could not make it splash when I practically jerked it out of the pot.

Compared to other cookware the quality of this set is decent, but my other Chef’s Classic is so much better quality that this set usually sits in the cabinet. If you want to purchase a set, go with the ten or twelve part set. You will save many money and you may be able to use it to purchase a pasta pot you may be able to really use.

Excellent Cookware Set!,
September 9, 2006

By&nbsp,Zee Portland, OR See all my reviews

I’m no chef but I do like to cook, and I bought this set for myself after moving cross country and giving away an old set of Farberware stainless. I have been using these for the last month and a half and I could not be more happy. I totally love them!

They heat evenly and the handles do, indeed, stay cool. The pots clean up beautifully. There was many minor discoloration on the frying pans but that is to be projected, I think, given their function. But the saucepans and stockpot come out of the dishwasher looking as pristine as when I took them out of the box! they’re SO pretty. Lastly, these pots and pans aren’t too heavy, which was sa concern for me. I’d tried out other pots and pans like the Emerilware at department stores and found them very heavy to lift, the Cuisinart Chef’s Classic are the perfect weight for me.

You do must be cautious about keeping the heat lower, though, or things do burn. The other thing I have found is that, while the handles on the pots and pans stay cool, the handles on the lids don’t.Just be cautious when lifting the lids!

Although I think it’d be nice if the 14 piece set included a 2 quart saucepan too, but otherwise it comes with everything you have to cook a big or small meal. There are smaller sets, though, for those who are not prepared to take the plunge.

I heartily recommend this set.
