If you’re setting up a “grab & go” pack the kind of thing that lives in your car or at your office, insurance against a manmade catastrophe like a terrorist attack or a runaway nuclear reactor, or a natural catastrophe like an earthquake or a hurricane you can not get along without these mylar blankets. You may be able to use them as blankets, cloaks, tents, groundcloths and signal panels. They’re nearly weightless and as noted, versatile. They belong in every survival kit, car glove compartment, and hiker’s pack. I can not recommend them greatly enough.

I used mylar “space” blankets for the past 30 years for near innumerable projects. Want to make a solar oven? Here is a tool to let that. Increase the ranking on your sleeping bag by 20 degrees put the mylar INSIDE the bag, I have made emergency ponchos from them while backpacking. Ground cloths, signal devices, sun awnings in this mode they help supply cooling, insulation for coolers, animal shelters, a lining for an incubator.

They do not have to wait around in your car or “read bag” to find uses! but, I carry them in each car, I have one in each of my different depending on purpose “ready bags”, in emergency kits made for the kids and in all the 1st aid kits in the house, vehicles, the ranch and other such haunts.

This little part of plastic may well be one of the premier tools of all time.

I have played with a couple of different brands of space blankets and these blankets are of good quality. They suffer the common short comings of this material tears spread easily but on the great scale of space sheet brands, you’re to get one of the better quality blankets. As an example, one of the cheaper brands I tried experienced flaking of the mylar covering after admittedly rough handling. The brand being reviewed here didn’t suffer from this flaking. Certainly suggested.

This is a good little product. The headlamp angle may be adjusted, so that it points straight ahead, or down at an angle. The light is bright and the headband is adjustable. It folds up small and is lightweight. I have it in my camera bag, but it can fit into a pocket. It opens easily and runs on three AAA batteries, which came with the headband. I think it’s great for those times when you can not carry a flashlight in your hand and you need just a little quality light on the subject, but it could never replace a professional grade headlamp.

This was my 1st headlamp buy, and I can see why people have them useful. This on is well made, it’s bright on the highest setting, and I like the choice of being able to rotate it up or down, and to be able to dim the light, or have it flash in an emergency, I guess.

Very comfy band, and easily adjustable. Worth the money.

I had earlier owned a Princton Tec Quad and never had a Petzl lamp but this is well made with many style if that matters to you. The three modes for white light, high, low and flashing. The red light only has two modes of consistent and flashing.

It is tough offers a great beam of light for the white light with only one bulb. I have had it for just three weeks so no experiences with it running low still but I’m using it sparingly.

This is a big improvement over the regular thermal detectors I have a Craftsman I was given as a gift already. Instead of trying to keep looking at the ever changing digital readout this tool lets you to look right at where you’re pointing it to see the changes in hot or cold. I have not had my Leak Detector long, but I already used it on all my appliances and also found the south wall of my home has many big air leaks.

Great for checking that pesky bottom drawer in the fridge that generally freezes your vegetables,too. Got it set right.

Will be checking the insulation in my attic and boxing once it starts to get cold and windy.

My son owns a remodeling business, and he’s already asked me to borrow it a couple of times for different jobs. He likes it alot. He found a hot spot in light fixture wiring thru the drywall. Lifesaver.

I just received the Gorillatorch and have been testing it. In the short time I tested it, I have found it to be an excellent idea with a good implementation.

Pros:

The LED used in the unit is bright and in conjunction with the dimmer function lets an excellent range of illumination

The legs comprise of many ball and socket joints that let easy positioning with good rigidity.

Each ball has a rubber like ring around it the gray rings in the photos which gives a good friction grip when wrapped around an object.

The tripod feet have the same covering as the rings giving it a low slip tripod base.

The tripod feet contain strong magnets that hold the tripod securely to a metal surface in any orientation up, down or sideways.

The Battery/Lamp live in a single assembly so there’s no restriction on rotating the light.

Cons:

The unit I received has a battery compartment electrical contact issue. The battery compartment cover holds contacts that connect the battery + terminals with the unit body. This contact may be influenced by tapping on the case, turning the lamp off and back on when it’s switched on.

The dimmer works well, but is non linear in operation. The dimmer/switch rotates over approx. 220 degrees, but the dimmer operates over the last 90 degrees.

The light made is alike to a flashlight a bright center with a less bright bordering light ring. As the main use for the unit is as a work light a change to create a more uniform lighting area could let the LED’s light to be better used.

Overall this is a good product that with minor gripes, delivers what it promises

I used this for camping, reading, and electrical work. I’m amazed by how strong the magnets are and they attach easily to metal. It is not big so you may be able to carry it like a regular flashlight and use it in tight spaces. As well, the bulb is a Cree which is costly than a LED. You may be able to dim the light by turning the handle instead of having to click to pre set light levels. I greatly recommend this as a gift if you do not know what to give.

So far I have been able to test out the Gorilla Torch and I’m loving it. It’s pretty much the modern variant of the “Snake Light” that came out about 15 years ago. There are lots of times when I wished I could attach a flashlight with adaptable legs or with magnets for projects I worked on.

It uses the same exact legs as the major Gorilla Pod the small one. I used that for a while now and it worked out great for me. They have a warranty on it too. One year I believe??

Overall I could recommend it. It’s by no means the perfect flashlight, but for a product that’s brand new to the market from a company that never made a flashlight before, I could say it’s pretty good. I give it five stars because it met all my needs as a flashlight that I could attach to anything. Dimmer choice was a plus for me!

I have had great success with MasterLocks in the past, but for $6 the tiny lock should work.

Lock dials don’t move well. Button to change mix hard to reach and hard to use. In the procedure of trying to change the lock to my standard number, the lock became unusable. Let us face it, it shouldn’t take anybody an hour to attempt to change the mix.

I am rethinking my loyalty to MasterLock.

Rating: Excellent
The lock arrived inside the time posted to my account. It was what I projected for security standards. The red color is bright and easy to recognize.

Rating: Colours scratch off
I bought two, one was black and one has been red. I loved the red, it is a nice bright colour and goes perfectly with my red suitcase. But, I used it once and many of the colour on the lock started to scratch/chip off. I have not used the black on check in luggage still.

Other than that, they’re tough locks. The loop is made out of thick wire so the malleability is nice.

Rating: Works well
Grreat price, tough little lock. Seemed to pass through airport security w/o any problems on our trip to Alaska, so the TSA part must work for them.

Rating: Lowers the volume of most sounds tremendously
It is a pretty good deal for the price. 1st thing I did when I got it’s turn up the speaker of my notebook computer to max volume and play many deafening music, then I put the protector on. I can still hear the music, but not so much the drums and bass. I think if I wear ear plugs it will work better. This is great for those of you that live in apartments, we all know there are noisy neighbors no matter where you go, and particularly if you stay in low end apartments there are more of them. So this may help taking many of the stress out of living in an inexpensively practical housing.
