This review is from: JBuds J3 Micro Atomic In Ear Earphones with Travel Case Electric Blue Frustration Free Packaging Electronics

In an earlier review, I mentioned that these high quality JBuds J3s were too treble heavy for my tastes, which too much sound in the upper register instead of a balanced sound. Of course, sound is subjective and many may find these $30 J3s worth the money.

I posted this review on and my blog and got an email from JLab Audio telling me that they were “surprised” by my criticism, that my assessment contradicted concentrate groups and their “overwhelming conclusions.” The email also implored me to think about removing my review till I made a more thorough evaluation.

JLab Audio makes alike requests to reviewers who give their product less than sterling praise. Obviously, JLab cares about their buyer feedback and wants evaluations to be both thorough and they also make it clear that the earbuds should go through a breaking in procedure, playing the buds through the earphone jack for 24 hours in a row.

I want to be just so I deleted my review and want to give my evaluation as a “second look,” having allowed my J3s to go through the breaking in procedure. I’m comparing my $30 J3s to the $14 J2s, listening to them through a C.Crane CCR 2, a Sangean WR 2, and an iPod.

For me, the J2s, while not offering the same light and dynamic volume as the J3s, are for me the more favourable deal. Simply put, I just find too much treble in the J3s at the expense of other sound range ensuing in a less than balanced listening experience. On my CCR 2 radio, I turned the treble all the way down to mitigate the J3’s upper end effect. On the Sangean WR 2, the high end was too much for me. Same story with the iPod. Now I expect many will be happy with the bright sound in the upper register. It is just too much for me. JLab makes a good product. I bought their original JBuds and still use them as my travel buds and I love them as they are comfy. The J2s offer better fidelity than the originals. I use them for my bedside radio. The J3s for me offer too much treble but certainly bring a light that many will enjoy.

Update: JBuds contacted me and offered me to exchange my J3s for two pair of J2s. Kudos to JBuds for accommodating my preference for the J2s.

This review is from: JBuds J3 Micro Atomic In Ear Earphones with Travel Case Titanium Silver Frustration Free Packaging Electronics

I bought the J2 earbuds before doing many serious flying beginning in mid summer, and I was well happy with the quality on them. My husband kept teasing me about the color a lovely pink! and it took many time to convince him to really give them a listen. When he did, he was blown away, and caved on the idea of to get his own. Neither of us are big audiophiles, but I am a bit more picky about in general sound quality than he’s. I still have not found a set of iPhone speakers that I am pleased with after two years of searching.

I came to to buy a set of J2’s in white, and found that the J3 variant had just been released. Reading up, I knew we required to give these a attempt instead, and ordered the Titanium Silver for him.

As mentioned both in reviews and by JLab, you have to let these earbuds and the J2 model to burn in before you are going to get the fullest range of sound. My husband was utterly stunned the 1st time he used his new pair. He raved about them so much, I stole them for an hour to compare to my now used J2’s, and I found enhancements all the way around. With a new out of the box pair that had possibly some hours of burn in time, the trebles are very clear, and the bass to my ear is both considerably deeper and clearer in tone. I’m a bass girl, this was the most vital thing for me. The audible background “hiss” you may be able to hear on older or poorer quality mp3s is muted.

I bought a new Paparazzi Pink pair for myself that night, and my J2’s have been relegated to emergency backup position. With the release of the J3, J2 models are at an exceptional price, but they are so superior that they are well worth the extra money.

    Little things:

The new packaging is fabulous, I hope more businesses start working with to switch over to this kind of packing material.

The little case provided with the J3 model is a big plus. I have the bigger case for travel and this one is way more convenient for daily use. It is small enough to slip into a shirt or jacket pocket.

Four sizes of silicone ear buds will make it much easier to fit for many. I did move over mine from the J2 as the material from those feels a bit thinner and I favored the old color My husband found he was most comfy using different sizes for each ear, so having the wider range of sizes worked well for him. His only complaint is that with the best fitting pair, sometimes he finds the fit to be nearly too tight to the point of pressure induced discomfort. Most of the time, it is not a problem. He did have ear issues as a child and I suspect this can be a factor, as I have had no trouble at all with either model.

For reference, both pair are used with first gen iPhones for music and audiobooks. I use the EQ settings for the iPod function, he makes no modifications.

Overall, one of the best merchandise I have bought in any group this year!

I bought this item after having the JBuds J2 earphones for some months and I can say from personal experience that these earphones are very improved from its predecessor, the J2s. The new sleek and thin design fits comfortably into the ear and with four different size info, one surely has to fit. The cord is lasting though it’s somewhat slimmer than the last model. As well, the four different colors JLab Audio offers helps personalize this product towards your individual preference. After “burning in” the new J3s, I noticed an in general clear, high quality sound. I have tested this with a range of music and noticed improved highs and bass also. Many people commented that that there’s too much treble but I have not really noticed this. After you do a “burn in,” the sound quality should considerably improve. The sound is perfect for me but I’m just your average music lover, not an audiophile. When listening to music with the earphones, I notice instruments I have never heard before on my standard iPod earphones.

These earphones are great for its price and I projected no less from JLab Audio. Though I’m not a sound expert, these earphones should live up to your expectations. The J3’s deliver very on many attributes and are certainly superior to other earphones in its price range. The new and improved J3s are respectable of five stars for me. I have had no problems with this product so far and the one year warranty that JLab offers should hopefully suppress any worry you may have about its durability. The mini case these earphones come with is a great addition. It’s convenient, small, and perfect for travel. If you’re new to JLab merchandise or a returning buyer, you may want to be pleased with the J3 earphones. I use them every day and just love this product! I’m also impressed at the buyer service JLab Audio gives. They really do care about their buyer and making their merchandise better. Thumbs up to JLab Audio and the new J3’s! This is one of the best purchases I have made this year!

Sennheiser CX 400 In-Ear Headphone Black reviews:
    Rating: Nice sound
Good sound and great price the cord is a little uncomfortable, but not too most of an issue

Rating: Sennheiser CX400 Headphones BETTER than Bose
Just bought these headphones and totally LOVE them. I wanted many earphones to listen to my ipod while working out, so I bought a $99 pair of Bose, thinking they could the BEST. They do have great sound, but the design is ridiculous! They constantly fell out of my ears, or hurt if I placed big enough ear pieces in. That’s, if the earpiece did not come off. Sennheiser’s are very comfy. They block sound very well. I only have to turn the music level up to 25 and get excellent sound. I had to turn the Bose up to 75 at least, and I do not like my music really deafening. The bass is not as rich with Sennheiser’s, but if you must physically hold the earpieces in Bose to get the booming bass, it is not much good anyways. They could most likely be much better if used with a stereo that changes bass/treble. I gave them a four because the cord is annoyingly short OR long. For the price, I could totally recommend these.

Rating: IT HAS ITS UPS AND DOWNS
Well ive been looking like a madman trying to find a great budget in ear set for under 100 bucks..and after reading many reviews in the cx400 i gave it a shot!..I burned them in for about 20 hours before putting them into my own ears. Now note if you have about 150 180 bucks to throw around then i def recommend the final Ears lineup or the higher class Shure earbuds..But anyway..

I love listening to primarily rock and trance music and these buds give clear crisp sound to both genres with nice audio accuracy. You dont get too most of that high treble sound where it sounds like constant s’s being crashed..The bass on these is..good, to say the least. For when I listen to rock music and set the equalizer on the bass increase it tends to make it sound a little muddy but just keeping the EQ settings at default lets for important bass but for me its never enough lol..But with trance and other electronic music these earbuds really shine..The bass is so much deeper and never overpowering and every detail is heard while listening..It looks like these buds struggle under heavy music..when there’s many going on now the sound becomes a little congested and the quality is lost..but thats not all the time.

For many weird reason, there’s an extention cable that attaches which makes a giant mess in my pocket..I dont know why they could not just package a normal lenght..not im forced to turn tie the extra 20 inches haha..oh well nothing big. They are one of the more comfy buds ive worn so far..They never fall out of my ears, when im sweating at the gym and the extention is pulling on them..so kudos to comfort!

So yeah i think these earbuds are def worth the 35 bucks i paid for them..but like i said if you have another hundred then def go with the higher class models..I know I’ll the next time around. They are just a temp model for me, but anybody looking for something better then the stock headphones that come with the ipod or another mp3 players then this is certainly something you’ll love!

Rating: GREAT ONCE YOU GET TO KNOW THEM!
Got these about a week ago, sound was there but the highs were off a bit. So wrestled with returning them i intentionally bought these due to extention, as i have an original Sony series MP3 player that has a alike extension for use with armband that i use for the gym. So they fit the bill ok…

So…The highs kept nagging me so i picked them up a couple of days afterward tried different size earpads and all of a sudden my ears had acclimated to the earphones WOW!

Excellent affect and beautiful bass, excellent imaging.

In my opinion one simply can not get by on one set of earbuds you have to have ..heh..heh..spares!

Try them they are that good, let your ears to change. They make a good addition to any earphone arsenal!

Rating: Great earbuds for the price
My everyday in ears are custom molded Futuresonics Atrios. They sound great but I needed an earbud/mic setup to replace the awful sounding stuff Apple included with my iPhone 3G. The Sennheiser CX400 earbuds joint with a third party in line mic do the trick. They do not come close to the Futuresonics in sound quality, but at this price they’re practically disposable vital for the rugged use my iPhone gets.

    Pros:

    1. Price

    2. Short cord I changed out the included extension for a third party in line mic

    3. Unoffensive sound with decent bass Futuresonics Atrios sound like subwoofers in my head

    Cons:

    1. Ridiculously hard to open packaging. Frustration can lead to accidentally cutting through the accessories hidden in the packaging.
