The c340 is intended with simplicity in mind, though Garmin has not forgotten to add a touch of class. With a weight of under ten ounces and a width of 4.4 inches, the c340 is ultracompact and easy to transport. To keep misunderstanding on the road to a minimum, the only buttons are a rotating volume handle and an on/off switch. The bright 3.5 inch diagonal display features a touchscreen, making it a snap to input routing info and make fast selections on the road. The c340 sports dual integrated speakers for high quality voice prompts, a USB port for PC connectivity, and an interior lithium ion battery that gives power when you are planning your routes outside the car approximately 4 8 hours battery life. Also to an included 12 volt power adapter for in car power, there is also an SD memory card expansion slot for use with other Garmin MapSource mapping merchandise. The unit is secured by a suction mount cradle that fastens to the windshield, allowing for easy portability between vehicles. While the c340 has an interior GPS antenna, it also has an MCX type connector for hooking up an optional external GPS antenna.

Finding your way with the c340 starts with inputting a place on the touch screen. The unit comes preloaded with Garmin’s greatly in depth City choose NT street data of the complete United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Finding points of interest along your path is made easy with the c340′s big fitted database of almost six million hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and attractions. Garmin also has made it simple for users to upload custom points of interest now you may be able to add school zones or safety cameras to your database. You may be able to turn on a closeness alert to inform you of forthcoming custom points of interest.

Garmin really kicks the power of the c340 up a notch with the addition of real time traffic info. This optional service will display congested regions on a color coded map, allowing you to avoid traffic by just pushing a button that calculates a new path. All this wizardry is made possible by the new Garmin GTM ten receiver that connects to the c340 and other choose Garmin merchandise. Note that while the GTM ten receives digital data from particular FM broadcast stations in choose big metro regions during the United States and Europe, note that these traffic services are available only in choose cities where coverage exists. An easy to read, six line, 2.7 inch multi color display helps keep tabs on the channel name and number, group, artist name, song title, and time at the same time. The receiver also allows you to program up to 30 presets of your beloved streams, also as search by stream, artist name, song title, or group. And with a fast press of the one touch jump button, you may be able to instantly switch between traffic and weather reports for your city and any of your predetermined music, news, or entertainment channels. Other programming details include an S Seek function that stores your beloved artists and songs and alerts you when one is playing on any of the music channels, direct station tuning via the numeric buttons, and a channel lock choice.
