After reading the different arguably “bogus” reviews, I bought one of these units. They seem to be made by the Chinese company TECYEA you may be able to look them up on the web whose previous model USB battery pack also worked with the iPhone 3Gs. To make a long story short, I have tested the Imp500 battery pack and it indeed charges and powers iPods, iPod touches, AND the iPhone 3Gs. Just remember that you must use the correct USB connector because my “touch” cord does not work with the iPhone 3Gs but the 3Gs cord does seem to be downwardly matched with the “touch”. I have not attempted to test the true capacity of the unit still, but if my previous slightly lower capacity pack is indicative, it will supply at least a couple full recharges for your iPhone/touch. My son took the pack on a long bus trip and he was the only one still listening to music and watching videos after the 19hr bus ride aside from his friends whose iPods he was able to charge while on the road. My daughter had a alike experience on a trip to Japan. , just in case you are wondering, the battery pack also charges my Sony PSP, Samsung Instinct, and my other USB powered devices that seem to be less power hungry than the iPod touch and iPhone 3Gs one of my other 3400mah battery packs will charge all of my USB devices EXCEPT the touches and the iPhone. I can not vouch for the longevity of this particular unit, but my older “Tecyea” unit is still going strong after two years. I should also note that with a little digging around on the web you may be able to find this unit at a somewhat lower price. If you decide this path, make sure to verify that it comes with an AC charging adapter and cord. Many units seem to omit this vital “option.” Good luck!

throughout my travel I was constantly draining my phone before I got off the plane. The iMaxpower imp500 is the only battery I have found that really has juice to spare for running and charging the iPhone.
This battery lets me to use the iPhone for many hours and still leave the plane with a charged phone. I also use the battery to charge the phone if I’m at a gig or another public place. Rather than plug it into an outlet, out in the open, I will leave my phone in my case out of sight, charging discreetly. Anytime I find myself stationary for a while, I pull out the external battery and use it, leaving my phone more exceeded off for when I am on the move.
I’m liking it lots and just will not travel without it.

This battery worked flawlessly for me so far about a month of pretty heavy use. The phone’s auto charge position works perfectly, letting me know when the phone received a full charge, just like it does with the Apple AC charger. The battery never gotten hot or malfunctioned. For the price, it is very convenient. I never have to think about conserving my battery power anymore just to get through the day. I am liking it lots and just will not travel without it.
